Building a DIY E-bike takes time and patience. The kit is plug and play in the sense that if you plug in all the bits it will run your motor. But doing it right requires thought and planning. Luckily we have an awesome user group of riders and online support via the Captain Codswallop discord server. If this kit is being bought as part of your first dip into the world of DIY E-bikes then I recommend you take advantage of the discord sever and the experience that is on offer to help you build your bike right!

You will be dealing with high Voltages at 72 volts. Some electronics and mechanical experience is recommended. There are lots of installation videos for the bbshd. Documentation for this kit is supplied on a thumb drive. If you have questions or worries please get in touch via the discord channel and we will assist you.

BAC855 controllers The supplied map is a universal battery profile. It is important to read all instructions concerning this map before you connect to a battery or ride. We are able to help you make changes to the controller map if necessary. Support for doing this is via the High Voltage Discord server. We don't believe there should be some secret shroud over controller programming. It is however not an easy thing to do. We do not recommend changing settings unless you know what you are doing as you can cause damage to the controller, battery or motor this way. We are here to help and assist you with all questions regarding the operation of the ASI BAC855. We guarantee the quality of our harness and wiring connections. I have bought a kit. What happens?

You will be contacted to confirm your exact requirements. If you want your phase wires pre crimping or not. Which map you would like the controller sent with. Once this has been taken care of the kit will be in the mail. It would not be listed if it was not ready to go.

What if I run into problems?

Please get in touch via the High Voltage discord where all support enquiries will be dealt with. There is a wealth of experience using BBSHD upgrade kits on there and we have got dozens of people running and enjoying their bikes. All customer service issues are handled via the discord communications platform where you can use text voice and video to get the help you need.

Is Discord Mandatory?

Discord use is highly recommended as it is a sophisticated platform through where we are able to effectively help people though text, voice, video and image. If there is a strong reason why you are unable to use this platform please let us know. We believe in the value of it and would be happy to help you learn.

Can I contact ASI directly?

Please do not contact ASI for an customer or product related queries. We as their representative handle all customer service and support issues. If there is an issue with the controller that requires assistance from ASI, High Voltage will handle that communication.

I am not able to access Discord

Please get in touch. This is by far the most efficient way for you to communicate with us. The best experience is via the phone app but there is also a desktop pc version of the software. Please see this video guide for more information about how to install and use the Discord community app.

Can I change settings via the display?

Yes you will be able to change most things that you might need on the screen using the handlebar switch. This covers things like PAS levels, wheel size for speed configuration and battery voltage settings.

What battery is needed to use the HV kit to its full potential?

A 52 - 72 volt battery with a BMS (battery management system) capable of sustaining a continuous current of at least 65-70 amps for 52v and about 55 amps for 72v.

What if my existing battery does not meet these specifications?

You will still be able to use the HV kit but you will need to reduce the power that you are drawing from the battery to avoid tripping the safety limits on the BMS.

How does Shipping Work?
